Rebrand Case Study: The Orange Couch Coffee
Overview: The Orange Couch Coffee has been a small business staple in the Marigny/Bywater area since 2008. Our client approached us to create a new logo and brand identity for his thriving coffee shop.

Over the course of a few short months we built a cohesive, creative, and relevant visual identity for this business. Let’s take a look at the process.
start with strategy.
While it’s tempting to make design choices based on personal preference, that’s not always what’s best for a business. Instead, we analyzed the existing client base & designed around what customers love about The Orange Couch— its clean and welcoming atmosphere, mid century modern design, and (of course) the couch itself! With this in mind, we built a logo which truly represents the shop.

Consistency = trust. While a logo on its own can be powerful, branding seals the deal. We based the brand type, color, and assets on the mid century modern inspo to create cohesion across the menu design, signage, and coffee packaging.
Tip: Invest in a brand guide. Brand guides are essential tools in retaining consistency across your business and provide valuable guidelines for how to use your new assets.

When it comes to representing your business, one size doesn’t fit all. Your primary logo may be just fine for most occasions, but sometimes you need a social media icon and all of a sudden your brand-spanking-new logo is a square peg in a round hole. That’s why we created three logo variations: Primary, Horizontal, and Icon. Together, they work for all occasions. They each have full color, one color, and black variations for maximum versatility.
finish the job.
We built out the brand with additional assets for maximum versatility, including social media templates, brand patterns, and merch design consultations. Finally, we held a brand handoff session with our client and his social media manager to introduce the new visual language of his business.

Our brand design has had an immediate impact on day-to-day operations. New customers can easily scan the menu and find what they need, keeping the line moving efficiently. Longtime customers have overwhelmingly positive reviews about the new look. Stickers, t-shirts, and mugs featuring the new logo are available for purchase.
